Social Media for Cat Breeders: How to Promote Your Cattery and Kittens With Confidence

social media for cat breeders

If you are a cat breeder, you already know that social media is one of the best tools you can use to promote your cattery and find the right homes for your kittens.

The tricky part is that most of us did not become cat breeders because we wanted to run social media accounts. Between cleaning litter trays and raising happy healthy kittens, it can feel impossible to find time or inspiration to post online.

Here are a few simple ways to make social media work for your cattery without needing to be a marketing expert or an influencer.

Be real not perfect

Yes, people fall in love with cute staged kitten photos, but the serious future owners are drawn to realistic photos and videos. They want to see where and how your cats live. If you include yourself or other people in your content, even better. It shows there is a real person behind your cattery and helps people feel comfortable and connected with you. When potential kitten owners can picture their kitten being raised by you, they begin to trust you before they even make contact.

Batch your content

Take photos and videos as things happen throughout the week, but do not feel you have to post them straight away. Keep them on your phone and then sit down once a week, even in front of the TV, and plan out your posts. This keeps your social media active and consistent without it taking over your life. You will have a steady flow of content ready to go and your audience will stay engaged with what is happening in your cattery.

Use your cattery name consistently but do not hide behind it

Include your cattery name in your username, watermark your photos, and mention it often, but also show yourself. People trust people, not faceless pages. When you show who you are and speak in your own voice, people see the care and experience behind your breeding program. That is what builds long term credibility and connection.
